Sparrows Posted 833 days ago We have a sparrow problem infesting our garden and no other birds will come near us. We have put eagle kites out but this is not working has anyone a suggestion as to how we can move these pests from the garden as we have had enough of cleaning the mess that they leave behind on fences and gates pots roofs and the like. We have a dog but keep the food and water where the sparrows are unable to get to it so the food sources are reduced |

RE: Sparrows Posted 823 days ago Maybe try to introduce native birds to your garden with some native plants - Grevillias etc - native birds will come for the nectar and probably scare the smaller sparrows away - Good Luck ! |

RE: Sparrows Posted 823 days ago That's good advice. Native Mynas are particulaly good at turfing out sparrows and Indian mynas. Thin out the centres of any dense shrubs you might have, and keep any dry (dusty) areas moist. That at least will reduce their preferred type of conditions a bit. If there are magpies, butcher-birds, native mynas or currawongs around the general area, you can bring them in with a feed of spag. bol. Really. They love the stuff! Once they know where the good tucker is, it's goodbye everyone else. Works in my backyard. |

RE: Sparrows Posted 823 days ago actually Indian mynas are the worst and councils are also trying to get rid of them due to their destruction of native birds. sometimes to get rid of one thing can cause another problem |
