chooks with black combs

Posted 746 days ago

Although my chooks appear to be healthy, their combs are gradually darkening and seem dry to the touch. I'm hoping someone might be able to let me know if this is a symptom of some kind of ailment or if they are lacking something in their diet, please. Also wondering if there is anything that should NOT be fed to chooks. Thanks in anticipation. :)

I found lack of water when one of my hens comb started to go dark and dry was the cause.
She was broody and not eating or drinking properly, would not drink out of a dish, but took it from an eye dropper.
Maybe you might need to put some more water around in different places.
One of my chooks jumps in the dish and has a bath, then the others wont drink from that dish till it is changed.
If your chooks are as are like mine,if they should not eat something ,they wont.
Hope this helps
