Chooks - saving money on feed

Posted 669 days ago

If you have chooks in your backyard, and you feed them grain/pellets by either pouring it into troughs/trays, or simply scatter it around your yard, then you're guaranteed to be spending way way more money on feed than you need to.....because of other birds scavenging the grain.

My brother has chooks, and he's gone and bought (or made?) a "grain hopper", very similar to the following:

He
has attached it to a fence post, and simply pours the grain/pellets in at the top. Now he gets almost zero loss of grain, due to other birds scavenging it, and his grain purchases have dropped enormously. He covers the top with a large coffee mug - simple as that.
