Recipe for nectar native birds

Posted 209 days ago

A long time ago on one of Don's shows, he gave a great recipe for making up a food for the nectar native birds like rainbow lorrikeets and native minors. I know I kept a note of it and made it for years and then I became ill and disabled and have moved and can't find it anywhere. I make birdfeeders and try to encourage people not to feed the nectar feeders sugar or honey and hope that someone may still have the 'recipe' for that great mix which the birds just loved. I would really appreciate your help.

Hi Perregrine,
I was looking for that recipe too, but in the mean time, I have found a product at the local iga. It is Harmony brand and it is a powdered nectar. I put it out for the bower birds in our garden and the other larrikins that fight over the dish. They don't rely on it solely, and eat the ficus berries and my poor old custard apples too, but you do have to have a reliable source of water nearby. look for it and let us know how you get on.
