hematoma on dogs ear flap

Posted 1008 days ago

Can anyone please help? I have a 12 and half year old Corgi X Red Healer and he has a hematoma on his ear flap. I've been told he may not survive the surgery due to his age, is this true? I have also been told that it can clear up on it's own as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm upset as he is a much loved pet and I'm not sure about what to do.

Did you get the advice from a vet, or from "someone"? If it's a small haematoma and doesn't cause your dog pain or discomfort you can leave it and see if it disappears. Also, it's quite possible that a vet can perform the surgery with local anesthetic.

Yes I did get the advice from a vet. He doesn't seem to be in any pain at all or discomfort. I'm just after a second opinion with more advice on this matter. I would be horrified if he died from the anesthetic due to his age. Any ideas?
