Hello.Chooks need 11 hours of sunlight a day to lay.
They have a hormone in their eye that is triggered by the sunlight. They will always lay 2 hours later each day,and will only lay 6 days a week.eg.7am Monday,9am Tues,11am Wed ,1pm thursday,3pm Friday,no egg Sat.7am Sun.

I only have 3 girls and one of them has started laying again this week no eggs, after 5 weeks off

mmm... my chooks don't display this behaviour. Mine lay eggs at the same time each day. Some in the morning some during the day (I have 4 chooks). Is this behaviour a scientific fact?

Hello. This is actual fact. I find our girls laying times change 2 days after day light saving begins and ends.
Honestly,if you take note ,you will find your girls lay 2 hours later each day,and will have 1 no egg day if they lay late in the afternoon before.Strange but True
I think Isa Browns, may be different,But I can time exactly what time my girls lay because I have to beat the rotten Crows to the eggs

I am in Brisbane, Qld and alot of people are having chooks off the lay at the moment because of the amazing amount of rain and flooding. Chooks can go off the lay with unusual changes in weather, eg. lots of rain all of a sudden, storms, cold, etc.
