Dog with Cataract????

Posted 427 days ago

hi i'm 16 years old and have had my dog for the last 12 years my dog who is now 15 years old has developed cataract over the past year and now it has seems to have gotten worst recently in two weeks so bad she is blind and doen't know where she is.

now apart from surgery which is out of the question of a dog of that age is there anything to help her see a bit more clearly like and eye drop so she has some sense of direction????

Hi dragonace. If it actually is a cataract, simple surgery might be possible. Eye-drops won't help for cataracts. I'm not a Vet.,but I've had a few dogs over the years. The thing to do is take her down for a check-up and see what the experts reckon. Hope it turns out O.K. In the meanwhile, make sure her food and water are always in the same place and the area she is familiar with stays exactly the same.
