Deer versus tropical garden/new trees!

Posted 444 days ago

Yes we live in the beautiful Noosa Hinterland and love the wildlife. When I first saw the deer I marvelled at their beauty. Now they have destroyed some of my new trees I could do countless things to them!
I have heard about a powder called D-Ter.
Has anyone used this and if so is it any good.
Any other clues?
We are fenced but not fenced for deer but we are thinking of going to the expense of putting a deer fence up however then we won't enjoy the kangaroos we also entertain!

Help!

I know what i'd do to them if it were my property and tree's.....yes they are a beautiful animal, but they do not belong in the Australian bush. They eat plants which shouldn't be eaten or should be eaten by something else native. But i guess it's not the deer's fault they are there
...do they jump your fences? or simply munch the tree's which are close to the fences? perhaps compare the cost of an electric tape type fence...like that used for horses! to that of your deer fence....having paid out on the deer...the roo's may well start eating you trees and plants as well if their own food becomes a bit sparse. Look, either way they both make a lovely meal...hehehe ...if your fencing idea's fail. The D-ter may work, but after it rained you would have to re-apply it....could be an issue up there with the weather you've all had.
....do can toads eat deer???

katydixon - Perhaps contact the NSW Game Council, they are a Government organization who specialize in the management of "Game" (Deer)and will be able to provide specialist techniques to meet the outcomes you require.
