dog Posted 1008 days ago my husband has a german sheppard she is sixteen years old. a few years ago she starded to get black lumps under her skin in different places on her body, we havent worried about it due to her age. but in the last three four months she has ended up with a hard breast wich seems to run from her back teat to her belly button, and i have now noticed a black grape looking growth by her genital area please help. |

RE: dog Posted 1003 days ago Please help? I really don't know what's wrong with you people...Have you not been to the vet for vaccinations in years? You say she's had the lumps "a few years". If you cannot afford vet fees and all the costs that go with owning a dog, don't have one. And what's got her age to do with not worrying? Older dogs need more care, not less! More looking after and consideration, not less...just like older humans. |

RE: dog Posted 1000 days ago in reply to gabs, dogs who are neglected do not live to sixteen. we bought our dog sixteen years ago and have given her unconditional love. you do not no our circumstances, and i was after advise on her condition. because how do you tell a man who still plays with his sixteen year old dog knowing that she is sick especially when she shows no pain, and is not ready to let her go. (the only unhumane thing in this world is only money talks!) |

RE: dog Posted 999 days ago Sounds like the lovely old girl has problems.I know first hand a vet would put her down.If she is in no pain, just keep loving her.I am sure you will know when she has had enough, they seem to get a pleading look in their eyes. |

RE: dog Posted 961 days ago i had a rottweiler that grew lumps. they were benign tumors that the vet removed when she was younger but after she was 8 he refused as she might not wake up. he said not to worry as long as she wasnt in pain. be aware though, at 14 my dog grew a lump on her head. we had to get her put down when she started to turn nasty. she bailed up a young child. fortunately nothing bad happened but the growth on her head was affecting her brain. i had to make the hardest choice, perhaps just in time |

RE: dog Posted 867 days ago If Gabs did not care he would not have taken the time to write and he has a point. Vets only put down animals if we agree to it. Yes enjoy her for as long as she is not suffering of course. Personally I would spend everything I have and havent on any one of my four dogs, as my step daughter spent over $15k she did not have in 18 months on her 12 year old shitzu x. This is no criticism we are all different but it doesent mean we love less. If loving our pets could keep them living and healthy there would be many many very old dogs around. |

RE: dog Posted 865 days ago then again what can you do if the dog is in pain is is sometimes better to put he/she down. it would be better for them. it is hard but then again life itself is hard and thats the way it goes. |

RE: dog Posted 820 days ago Dear ALL, just read your comments and have teers in my eyes as my dear German Shepherd Von Arabella had the same problem. All older female big dogs have a potential to suffer from this problem as it is a tumour of a milky gland. The vet told me mostly desexed dogs suffer from this nasty disease but my Arabella had two litters of gorgeous puppies and never was desexed but similar to people this disease doesn't discriminate. Please, keep an eye on your girl as every lump has cancer roots and they attack the internal organs near by and the animal starts to suffer from a horrible pain. I know how almost impossible it is to put your own pet to sleep but please remember that sometimes we have to be cruel to be kind. Crossing all my fingers for your lovely friend but from my own experience there is no cure however if she is still enjoying the food give her everything she likes and treasure every minute with her. Let us all know where you are up to |
