treated pine sleepers

Posted 272 days ago

l would like to build an elevated garden bed out of treated pine sleepers, but l have heard that treated pine has a chemical added to it that could seep into the ground into the root vegetables, is this true and if so how can l combat this problem without spending much more money that l am already.

Those logs are CCA treated and some people are convinced that they are not good to use if you intend growing vegetables and eating them.

If you really want a raised bed you could still use timber but not if it's been treated. Other than that you may have to go for cement blocks or even gorrigated iron can do the job.
