Liquid Amber Trees

Posted 694 days ago

Hi, I would like to put an above ground pool 1/2 in 1/2 out of the ground, but I have a large Liquid Amber tree approximately 8meters away. I have been getting conflicting views in regards to the root system from this tree looking for water and damaging the bottom of the pool.
Can someone please advise me if the root system will damage the pool, as I am not prepared to pull out the tree and will go without a pool if I have to.
Thanks for any responses & views on this matter.
Jules

You haven't had much response, so I'll put my two-bob's worth in. Liquidambers are great at digging up roads and footpaths. You could do a bit of digging say ten metres out to check for roots, but my personal thoughts is the tree will definately win. Could you stay above-ground? The hole-digging money you save could go towards some landscaping maybe.
