Best Grass for 2 Acre block ???

Posted 836 days ago

Hi, I have a bit of a problem, someone may be able to help with !

My wife and I are about to build on our 2 acre block. To start we want to put some trees up, and to seed it with lawn / grass.

Water isn't a problem as we have bore water. What I'm unsure of is what type of grass or blend to seed with.

The land is well drained, black soil that for the past 20 odd years has been used for a small market garden.

Any thoughts on what would be best. We live in the Albury NSW region. ( hot in Summer....cold and some frost in Winter )

thank you, David

ok......have done some homework.

I have been advised to look at a fescue grass seed, and, ( from another source ) a kikuyu / rye blend.

Really don't know which to go with. ????

to be continued....

At last a decision has been made .......

Kikuyu, with a overlay of rye is our choice. Tadaaa !!

A little late in the season, and is getting pretty hot .....( 30 C ), so water will be an issue.

But being new to the whole garden / lawn planting scene, ignorance is bliss !! nothing ventured, nothing gained !
