Serious question ; why is the mulch colour-sprayed? Haven't heard that before. Companies like I.C.I., B.A.S.F. etc. do dyes and pigments. Ring their technical dept. for info.

Hi Hutcho
All coloured mulch is spray dyed in large quantities at the source supplier. But refreshing it on the ground is virtually unheard of in Australia , until now.

Most peole do not know that this procees can be done and just let the nice rich colour fade after a year and live with the dull normal colour for evermore, or until they buy more mulch.

I have tried both the contact leads you gave me before but no joy.

I am looking at importing it from the USA, cause we just can't get the dye in Australia for a reasonable price, e.g I can get it sent to NSW from Melbourne @ $280. But I can get it sent from the USA from $190??

I get it now! Are you looking at bulk quantities, or small amount, say 20L ? Presumably you'd want a water-based product. In another life I was a formulator of things like that, so I'm happy to offer some suggestions re. raw material sources if you want.

Hi Hutch
You maybe the person I need to formulate some dye. Usually these dyes come in powder or liquid to be diluted with water.

1 gallon of undiluted liquid can cover about 2500 square metres (after being diluted).

I have done research and they are mostly vegetable dyes. Maybe we should take this discussion off line.
