Weed Control in lawns

Posted 831 days ago

What happens if you spray Yates Zero Bindi & Clover Weeder on Santa Anna Turf that contains large patches of Strawberry clover, other clovers and broadleaf weeds. There are way too many to control by pulling out etc. Any help or suggestions as to what would be the best way to control these weeds will be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Try reading this page and if you still aren't sure give the company a ring and ask for an expert opinion.

usually if you mow your law at least the height of a 50c and mow it regularly as well as you would have a greener and more lush lawn thus this stops weeds from growing

Help, I have let the dreaded bindii fruit, so now I have a full front bindii lawn (ouch) I guess there's nothing I can do to recover the grassey area at this time of year? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I don't have any idea about gardens and lawns.

Thank you, I will give it a go. I'm sure it will kill off any weeds and immature bindii. Any ideas how to deal with the ones that have browned to maturity? I'm afraid the lawn is quite over-run now and its a chore keeping them off the front door mat.

just keep on spraying.

Usually if you keep your lawn as big as a 50c piece not only you have a lush green lawn during the drought but bindii does not grow / or is reduced so i actually had no problems for the last 4 years just clover is the trouble.

you would want to spray it and wait for it to die really. So if you plan to spray twice just in case you missed a few i suggest after 3-5 weeks you could build it.

River-sand is a much better lawn topper-upper than topsoil. Put down about an inch or so, and as the grass grows through it, put another inch down. It's a bit of extra work, but the result is far better. Topsoil's only dry mud waiting to get wet so it can dry out and compact.

Hello Hutcho, will try the river-sand its readily available here. I understand what you mean about the topsoil. Will give the first spray at the weekend for the bindii, wait for it to die off as Dranonace advised then I will tackel the building up of the lawn. Thanks for your advice.

you should have green lawn in no time. A lot of councils use this idea in soccer grounds/parks but also they air-rate the soil just before putting the river sand down so water can also penetrate deep.

Off to spray the lawn this morning, here's hoping I get it right.I wondered why the neighbour up the road was using a push machine to make small holes all over his lawn (haha)now I know. Perhaps I should try that too once I get rid of those dreaded bindii and weed, given the soil I have is rock hard. The more I learn the more eager I am to do a good job.

Can use garden fork too to make holes, probably not as good as machine taking little cores out, but will allow water to penetrate deeper too, especially if sand is spread to get to holes before they collapse.

garden fork works good but too much work. it is better though if you make holes in the soil and then put a layer of sand on the top. controls the water better.
