Grevilleas

Posted 101 days ago

I am trying to grow grevillea Mt Tambourine on a shady south facing, sloping bank. The soil is clay. They seem to grow OK for about six months then die. I started with eight. I have replaced half of them over the last 12 months. Can you help? The garden is located in CAnberra.

Sad isn't it but it sounds as though your soil is the problem. Grevilleas are susceptible to Phytophthora which is found in the soil and impossible to get rid of AFAIK.

I had the same problem until I got onto grafted grevilleas. I haven't lost a plant since.

BTW if your lose a grevillea you shouldn't re plant another in the same place.
