Looking for 6m Australia Native tree??

Posted 636 days ago

Hi All,
I am in the process of designing our new home and supplying the Council with the Landscape plan. I have shown on the Landscape plan that I intend to plant 3 Acmena Smithii(Lilly Pilly) along the back fence. I wanted something that grows to approx 6m. I went to the local nursery (Gardenworld) and read that the acmena smithii grow to approx 4 -6 m high. The council has rejected my plan saying that the acmena smithii grow to 20m.
Can any forum members suggest something similair, that grows to approx 6 meters high.

cheers. Wayne.

Hi Wayne. That's too bad about your Lilly Pilly. I just had a look online and there are different varieties of the Acmena Smithii, some grow very tall and other not so they probably assumed the worst case.

I also did a bit of a surf for native trees and there are a few acacias that grow to within 6m as well as some myrtles like Agonis Flexuosa, also callistemons and eucalyptus, there will be lots more. It depends too on if you want bushy or if you want visible trunks etc. Not sure what area you live in either so here are a couple of websites that you could look on. You could also print off the information for the next time you discuss with council.
