Posted 940 days ago

Can you tell me please Don, I have just constructed new vegetable and garden beds, is dog manure harmful or beneficial to the soil if it is mulched and buried as per say another nutrient.

Thanks Michael

Not good for vegies but probably okay for flower garden and don't use if you have treated dogs with worming tablets.

Very serious potential pathogen problems re. veggies!!! Dog droppings do not break down readily. Best to either "toilet" them, or "bag-and-bin".

This is what I was told too.

Bit off topic, but Australia allows vegies from overseas with traces of evidence that human faeces were used to grow them.

On the other hand maybe we should just get used to it!

Most information warns against using dog poop in any garden. You can get easy to use dog waste composters these days - and even do your own DIY version if you want to save a bit of cash...(dig a bottomless, bucket with a lid into the ground)! Try the following addy for composters or search internet for other options.
