Sago Palm

Posted 226 days ago

I have a very well established Sago Palm (age unknown) approx 2mtrs in dia x 1.5mtrs high and a huge ball (400mm in dia) growing out of the crown.
Can somebody tell me what the plant is doing?

This is either new leaves emerging or flowers about to burst into life. Which if you are lucky will set amazing red fruit. Do not eat these as the are toxic. Sit back and enjoy what is unfolding before your very eyes.
Cheers Brent.

Brent,
Thanks for that.
Some of the outer leaves of the ball are starting to fold out and revealing orange coloured buds inside the ball.
I think this is the start of the flowering process. I'll take weekly photo's and if someone can tell how to post them on this site I'll be able to share my experience with everyone
