Please suggest a fast growing hedge Posted 228 days ago We need to plant a fast growing hedge along our side fence, do you have any suggestions. If we plant a hedge is it our responsibiliy to trim the neighbours side or do they do it? We were thinking of perhaps a lilly pilly? Any suggestion of a variety of this would be helpful or a different plant all togeather? What has worked for you, we are in Newcastle NSW. Thankyou |

RE: Please suggest a fast growing hedge Posted 221 days ago You could try Murraya paniculata. I don't know what Newcastle climate is like but Murraya seems to grow in most places. If you want a good neat and tidy hedge than I would say that you should take on the clipping of it rather than your neighbours. |

RE: Please suggest a fast growing hedge Posted 218 days ago Murrayas and lilly pillies will both grow well in Newcastle. However, there are lots of lilly pillies to choose from, so try to choose one whose mature height is fairly close to the height of the hedge you want: eg, if you want a 2m tall hedge, don't choose a 5m tall lilly pilly. Choose one that grows 2-3m instead, and it will be easier to care for. |
