male and female flowering

Posted 299 days ago

I am having trouble with all the squash, pumpkin, cucumber and zucchini varieties. There are loads of male flowers that are maturing way before the females are ready, is there anything I can do to promote faster female growth or any other hints would be helpful.

The male flowers always seem to appear first and well before you see any female flowers. It's the nature of the beasts. Suggestion to hurry things along is to nip off the tip/ends of the runners which just makes the vine feel a bit threatened so it thinks it had better get on and reproduce before something happens to really nip it in the bud.

That's my interpretation of it anyway.
