Am I a zygocactus variety?

Posted 315 days ago

I have a trailing plant in a hanging basket. If I had to compare it to any other plant I would say it was like a zygocactus.
The leaves however, are are thin and jagged and join together by a thin strong stem. They do have a succulent look about them. They can grow to approx 4" in length. From one leaf 2 or 3 new leaves are formed. It is currently in flower. The flowers appear around the edges of the leaves and are small and white/cream. Any help would be appreciated to identify this plant

I too have a problem with Zygos and anything that looks like Zygos. There are so called Easter Cactus and so called Christmas Cactus. Both look like Zygos but the flowers are different. There are probably others as well.

If your use Google Images and type in Zygo Cactus you will find pics of both. Compare with yours and see if you can find an answer.

Hi Pomolo
Thanks for replying.
I Have searched hundreds of pictures of cactus, succulents and trailing plants in general but I still have not found a matching photo. The plant doesnt look like any Easter cactus photos located yet either.

A trip to a large garden centre and with the help of a senior employee whose mother use to grow these plants, I can now advise that my plant is a Rhipsalidopsis. A variety of zygocactus. I still havent found a photo of one with the same flowers as mine but at least I can give my plant a name.
