Mystery Hole Posted 443 days ago As I was preparing to thin bulbs from a garden bed I removed edging and found an endless hole about 10cms under the bed...the top was bound together with roots of plants and quite moist whereas the subsoil was very dry. I could not reach any of the extremities of the hole with a long stick or hose and I emptied my 1000 litre tank into the hole and it drained away somewhere, (tank was full & it was raining so didn't waste water). The garden bed runs between my path and the lawn, not far from the house and am concerned that surrounding area may collapse. |

RE: Mystery Hole Posted 441 days ago Keep on trying to get the message across to your Council/water authority/geology dept. Whatever it takes. If you poured 1000 lts of water into this hole and it just disappeared then you need some serious investigation of the area. Don't let them ignore you. |

RE: Mystery Hole Posted 439 days ago Could very well be a natural easement, in which case you must quickly in writing inform your local council. STONGLY suggest you consult a solicitor!! First visit is free. Personal experience speaking here re. undisclosed council easement. That's no animal hole. |

RE: Mystery Hole Posted 427 days ago hutcho might be right or you might have a storm water easement or some piping that is washing all your mud causing the holes and 1000L of water. you might want to get that checked as it might be some crack in the pipe. |
