rejuvinating soil

Wanting to know? I have a large tree that died in my yard and would like to use it as a feature in the garden, the soil around it is terrible,I am going to have a raised bed where do I start?

to start you want to check why the tree died, the acidy of the soil may be one reason. once fixed problem that add heaps of composting material and mulch to the area, paper controls weed growth. you could raise the bed a bit but by then it should be fine to plant

How did you go?

If I was going to make raised bed, I would not worry too much in soil below, unless I would plant some edible plants in that bed.

I would put my bed structure, put very thick layer of wet newspaper, topped up with garden soil, mulch and plant.
I would also put some stuff from my Worm Farm.
