Tips for growing citrus in pots

Posted 314 days ago

Hi everyone,
I am about to plant a Lots-a-lemons mini lemon tree and a mandarin tree in pots. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. How long can a tree live in a pot of say.. 85cm diameter?
Cheers!

Citrus can grow in a pot indefinately although you will need to renew potting mix from time to time. You need to be careful with fertilisers because pots keep it concentrated in a much smaller area than when in the ground.

Work out a watering regime and try to stick to it. Mulch the soil to help hold in the moisture.

i've heard that they require a wide pot rather than a deep pot, this will keep them dwarfed and shouldn't require repotting too often.
