Tomato

Posted 685 days ago

Hi All,

Just planted my bushes of the winter tomatoes and they were doing fine until the leaves started getting a yellowy greenish tinge and I think some leaves have dried up. Their flowers have also gone dry and brown.

I think it might be a deficiency? I water them everyday.

Thanks for your help.

Monica.

Suggest Iron Chelate and Trace Elements. Both are sold under those names. Use them at half-strength first up, and look for some improvement after two days (mainly in the newer growth). If that does the trick, give them a full dose as per label. Have you checked the soil pH? Should be slightly acidic. Hope this helps a bit. Let's know how you go.

Thanks Hutcho,

I have some Iron Chelate that I use for my orange tree and will get the Trace Elements tomorrow and give it a go. I haven't checked the soil pH but I grew summer tomatoes about a metre and a bit away from the spot where the winter tomatoes are and they grew beautifully.

Will let you know what happens,
Thanks.

Well Hutcho something seems to have helped the tomatoes a bit. The top of one has died off completely (has gone brown and dry), was wondering if I should just cut it where it has died? It's sending out side shoots which look healthier.

Thanks for your help.
