strong sun

Posted 249 days ago

I live on the sunshine coast Queensland and have 3 above ground veggie gardens. As you would understand the summer sun here is quite strong. Is it a good idea to have some sort of shadecloth or similar over them ?

I live on the Sunshine Coast too. I have just built a shade house for my veggies but the cloth is only 15%. Being new to growing veggies I can't really give much advice. However, the seedlings I planted out are all doing well. I really wanted to enclose the area to stop the dogs and other critter eating the fruits of my labour.

In Sydney the veggies need the shadecloth in the middle of Summer for the killer hours from midday to about 3 o'clock.
