splitting tomatoes

Posted 669 days ago

This is my first attempt growing tomatoes. They have leafed very well, but the fruit is splitting. Is this from too much watering with all the rain we just had - or another reason?

Sounds right. Try cutting right down on your watering when they start to go from dark to pale green, and it's o.k. to pick them early if they're still splitting. ( when the first pinky colour appears.) The taste will still be there when they ripen up. Don't store them in the fridge, though. Good luck.
