pests in vege patch

Posted 802 days ago

G'day Viewers',
I am a novice vege grower & have noticed something has started nibbling on the leaves of my zuchini and pumpkins.
I would be grateful for any advice.
Thanks
CLAYTO

Hi, I too have things nibbling on my plants but I have come to the decision that as long as the bulk of the crop is unharmed then why not share with our wildlife, it is far better than spraying all with pesticides that will kill off the natural predators like lady beetles etc. As long as they leave your actual zuchini and pumpkin fruit(or whatever)then let nature take its course.

Snails and slugs will die if you sprinkle coffee grounds around - good excuse of drinking good coffee LOL!

They must get an overload of caffeine!!

Some say that beer placed in saucers work, but mine must be teetotalers!

RE: green rubarah

Posted 782 days ago

Hello,

I have planted some rubarah in the vegie patch, and have wonderful large green leaves(which are highly toxic), but the stalks of the actual fruit remain green still. My garden gets a good watering every second day. Plus ample of sun, morning and afternoon, so I know form the size of the leaves it's ok, but the stalks remain green, am unsure if I can pick it now and they will go red or be patient and wait. Any advice will be great please.

RE: no dig raised garden beds

Posted 782 days ago

Hello,
I am hoping someone can give me some adviced on raised garden beds, My parents had raised garden beds, that required a no dig method, I want to know how I can go about making the same thing, I do believe its a layer method, but how and what I do not know. As my father is is upstairs I cannot ask, and mum is not 100% sure how she did it either. Any advice will be great please.
