Slaters!

Posted 652 days ago

My compost bin is full of slaters and I recently read that they eat seedlings! How can I get rid of them and stop them coming back? My compost tends to dry out due to the hot weather in Perth, but even if I water it regularly there's still slaters everywhere.

Any advice?

hi maia slaters are a problem in my compost as well i find they do help to break the compost and yes seedlings will disappear overnight.beer traps help or newspaper rolled up around the garden will attract them also squeezed orange halves then gather up in the morning and dispose i have also heard potato peel attracts them also.good luck but i have learnt that they will always be a pain to gardeners
