tasteless tomatoes

Posted 682 days ago

My tomatoes are looking great, lots of nice red juicy fruit - but they have very little taste! Have tried a few different types, so suspect it's something I'm doing wrong rather than the type of tomato (although my heirloom ones are not ripe yet, so not sure if they'll taste better). I'm using worm-tea for regular fertilizing, plus scattered some phosphate and 'blood & bone' around them, also tried adding egg shells to the soil for extra calcium. Not sure what to do - please help!

I'd say that it's the big wet we have had that has rendered your tommies tasteless. Now that the weather has settled down somewhat they should come good.

It's only a guess but I'm in SEQ too and mine are the same.

If you want to increase the flavor of your tomatoes water them with epsomsalts 4 table spoons and milk powder 3 table spoons on a watering can each fortnight and I know this will do the trick.
