Zucchinis Won't Grow

Posted 367 days ago

hi,

Our zuchhinis only grow small and then turn mushy. Does anyone know what causes this?

Thanks
Maddie

Maybe too wet. A bit more info would be a help.

Have you had any good ones from the plants at all? Are the fruit actually developing before they go mushy?

We're in Brisbane and they're planted in the ground. They're growing to about 3 inches and then don't grow anymore and turn mushy.

Sounds as though they aren't being pollinated. You could try hand pollinating by picking off a male flower and introducing it into a female flower. Let us know if you get any better results.

I agree with pomolo. They sound like they haven't been pollinated.

I too am new to growing zucchinis. I just saw a great website which describes how to collect pollen from the male plant with a cotton bud and pollinate the female flower. Here is the link:

I have only a very small vegi garden, so only a few bushes, but one bush seems to produce only male flowers, Is this this normal? I'm just a beginner with the vegi garden!

In my experience happens if the soil is too moist.Try watering around the base/root of the creeper, not over the whole plant

Most plants will only produce male flowers to begin with then the females later on
