Pollinating tomatoes?

Posted 818 days ago

Has anybody heard that ficking or shaking the fully open flowers helps pollinate them when bees are scarce? Does this work?

I haven't heard of it being used for toms., but it definately works with corn, but their pollen is airborne as well as insect transferred in any case. There are precious few bees around here this year, (again), but my toms are getting pollinated by something. It's an interesting question.

After seeing a number of flowers failed to set fruit indoors I tried to pollinate with little brush, going between opened flowers it worked well.

It was quite impressive to have tomatoes in winter.
