Best Variety of oranges

Posted 227 days ago

Hi everyone, I am after people's oppinions on what are the best variety of orange that I could plant in my garden. I have done some research on the net which just confused me.

I would like a variety which is sweet for eating, thick skins and easy to peel. I would also like to plant a orange tree that doesn't get too big. I live in the lower south east of SA.

Any info and oppinions would be greatly appreciated.

Navels, Valencias and blood oranges are all nice oranges. You can always keep them pruned down to the height you'd like them kept.

Even the hard, dull, dry ground harbours life - which is brought to the surface with the fresh touch of drenching rain (or the humble watering can).

Thanks Theroze I decided to buy and have planted out my Washington Navel Orange Tree. Do they need protection from frost when young?
