Making Liquid Fertilizer from Chook Poo

Posted 655 days ago

Anyone have any experience with this? Share a few tips for me?

I want to put the Chook Poo in a bucket - is it 1/3 poo and fill with water. Then you add a couple of cupfuls to a bucket of water and pour over the cabbages etc. My cabbages have been too slow growing during the last season so I want to force feed them :)

How long should the poo stand in a bucket before you can start using it?

HI BobbiJ, yes it is good stuff. I have made it by putting chook poo into an old stocking or something similar and then suspending it in a bucket of water. That way you get nice clean fertilized water that you can put directly on your plants. It is best to leave the mix to 'ferment' for about four to six weeks before you use it and then at a rate of about 1 in 8 firstly. Once that mix is used you can add more water then use at a more concentrated rate. good luck with your cabbages!

A easy way to beat the cabbage moth; I tried everything !!! ended up covering the cabbages with some cheap curtain netting. Now the moths have gone, the rain and the sun still gets through, and the vegies are growing great.
We also use our chooks poo for fertilizer, but only on the grass and citrus trees, have you tried on your vegies yet?
