lemon Tree Diseases

Posted 859 days ago

Our Meyer Lemon tree which is about four years old is not looking very healthy. Some of the leaves seem to have curly leaf and some are yellow. Some branches are devoid of leaves towards the outer end. We have fed the tree with dynamic lifter in August. Does anyone have any idea's as to what might be wrong with our tree.
We live in the western suburbs of Melbourne near the beach,
about a kilometer away as the crow flys.

Hello Ian, I have found 'eco-oil' an absolutely brilliant product for most citrus problems.

It treats citrus leaf miner which causes leaf curl and silvery marks on the leaves, treats scale and the accompanying black sooty mould, and last summer my neighbour's lemon tree was covered in stink bugs whereas mine, only a few metres away, only had a handful. I've been told the eco-oil puts a protective coating on the leaves and the stink bugs can't get a grip.

It's totally organic and costs around $20 for 500ml but you mix 10ml with 1 litre water so it goes a long way. I keep mine mixed and ready to use in a pump spray bottle and use every two weeks during Spring/Summer. It's available hardware stores and nurseries.

Also, don't forget to feed with citrus food beginning of Spring/Summer/Autumn and keep water up to it as much as you're allowed.

PS: sorry if I sound like I sell this stuff, I don't but I'm a total convert.

Hello everyone,i,ve just joined and a complete beginner to growing my own fruit and veg. I'm not even sure if i'm writing in the correct place. Anyway i planted a lemon tree in the middle of winter and it has been growing nicely and has about 6 small green lemons on it, the problem is the lemons have got white scaley stuff on the under side of each one whats wrong? or is this normal untill they ripen. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks

You're on coastal Oz, equals trace elements leached away millions ago. Try a trace-element soln. as per label. And a very generous dose of seasol. If that works, you'll see improvement about a week later. Hope this helps a bit. Let's know how it pans out.

Our lemon tree has plenty of lemons but now they all have a few tiny holes oozing a toffee-like substance, which only seems to affect the skin thru to the flesh but not the flesh itself. Is this caused by fruit fly or some other pest? Can anyone help?

gday kissykiss, same problem with mine so i took some fruit to the local nursery and was told it was citrus or lemon spot or something like that, he suggested a few sprays of a white oil and something else( i've forgotten and am just going back to ask again) mixed together, your not far from where i live and the Lee Rowans guy (was very helpful and didn't try to sell me anything) also suggested reapplying fertilisers and trace elements due to the huge amount of rain we've had this season, good luck, kiss kiss
