Mango plant

Posted 202 days ago

I wanted to know whether mango tree the name Mangifera Indica is actually an authentic Indian mango plant, will the fruit taste the same as mango's form India? Will the wheather of Sydney is suitable to following Mango plant?

The 2 mango plants I'm interested in, grow in India, are:
1. Kesar Mangoes
2. Alphonso Mangoes

And I was wondering where these plants are available, and how I can get them.

Thank you so much in advance.

Mangoes do not tolerate frost. You may be able to grow them in Sydney if you can find a warm corner in your garden which does not get frost. You will need to spray with an anti-fungicide as soon as they flower or the flowers will fall off. They will get fruit fly in Sydney, so you will need to spray or cover in a mosquito net!

Look on the internet for nurseries in Queensland and email them, they may be able to find the varieties you want. Bowen Mangoes seem to do well if you cannot find the others.

Of all the wonderful surprises in life, none is better than seeing that first shoot tear out of the earth and form into a wonderful plant and vegetable.. .
