no flowers on pumpkins

Posted 750 days ago

My Jap/Kent pumpkin plants are reasonably mature (approx 6+ weeks), strong and healthy but as yet have not produced any flowers at all. Could they be lacking something or perhaps the opposite? Thanks, in anticipation.

Hi kezza1. When you say 6 weeks, is that from seeds or seedlings? If seedlings, they should start anytime soon if about 2M or so long. If you're in Sydney, that is. You'll see lots of male flowers before the females start to appear. If you do live in Sydney, I'd suggest you have your artist's brush ready!! Hope this helps.

Thank you. And you were quite right. I was obviously too impatient. Flowers have started and yes, looks like males are dominating at this stage. Paint brush handy...
