Do they grow from a crown or a tuber or the like? I've never grown it so I'm guessing.

Hiya,

I guess you have already planted your asparagus by now.
However in case you haven't, i would separate the plants.
I have been growing asparagus for years, it likes to be
left undisturbed, so put it in an area of your vegie patch
that you can dedicate to asparagus. Also likes plenty of
water in the not weather, and you will be rewarded with
lovely spears. Takes a couple of seasons to get established
enough to harvest much. Towards the end of the season, leave some spears go to fern, to feed your crown, then cut these back in winter. Good luck.

Thanks,yes I did separate them,just on "instinct".They look good so far...some new growth.No problem with plenty of water right now!! Pomolo,I think they spread underground like a tuber,and the spears are like flowerheads.
