What is eating my passionfruit??

Posted 582 days ago

We have a passionfruit vine growing beautifully across our pool fence. It has been in the ground for about 6 months. We had 4 good size fruit growing and then one day GONE with no trace of skins or struggle with the vine. Also the top third of the vine leaves have been eaten. Looks to me like an animal that can walk across the fence but also has 'HANDS' to carry the fruit away. Please help we want to eat the fruit!!( our block borders a bush reserve)

Hi Paula

It would be those darn possums living in that reserve, they absolutely love passionfruit vines. I'm not sure if there is any deterrent, I tried chilli flakes and all and they just got accustomed to them.

Maybe you could ask your nursery. Good luck.

I had the same problem but not with the fruit because mines gone dormant for the winter but the the possums were coming along our fence and eating the top of the plants so i put vaseline on top of the fence and thats stopped the possums and cats walking on top of the fence
