Lemon Trees in Wollongong NSW

Posted 613 days ago

We have recently bought a house in Wollongong, and during the search to find the right place we looked at many houses.

The thing that struck me was that NONE of the places we looked at had a lemon tree let alone any other form of citrus in the garden. I can't remember the last time I lived in a place without it's own lemon tree, it's almost an Aussie backyard icon!

So tell me, what's the best type of lemon to grow in the region??

A girl's gotta have a lemon in her G & T at the end of a hard days work!

I also live in the Wollongong area and agree that folk need a lemon tree.We put in a Eureka lemon 30 years ago and it is still going well. I feed it three times a year. We also put in two navel oranges and a mandarin tree and last year we had so many oranges we gave them to family and friends. We have to net the mandarins and lemons as the cockatoos are a problem ,they don't touch the oranges as they are after the seeds. The lemon tree needs to have good drainage .
