Problems Growing Cucuzza Lunga

Posted 1124 days ago

Hey,

Cucuzza lunga are basically long pale green zucchini/squash that grow on vines. We've grown these plants since I can remember however, this is the first time I've grown them for many years and we are having a bizarre problem now with the growing zucchini. They grow to about 1 cm and then they turn brown and die.We water the plants regularly and fertilise the soil. The plant itself is growing healthily, it's just the zucchini we're having the problem with.

Is there something wrong with the soil? If so, how would I fix it.

Thanks.

your plant is not getting pollinated probabley due to a lack of bees in your area so you will have to do the job for them.this is a common problem with pumpkins and the soloution is the same .You take the male stigma and insert it gentley into the feamle flower the female has asmall lump at the base this is the part that is turning brown and falling off.Another method(The one Iuse )is to use asmall paint brush be carefull and Ithink you will be surprised at the results
I hope this is of some assistance to you

Oh thanks for the tip! I shall be helping to pollenate them.

However I should've said that the little zucchini that do turn brown and die have flowers which are immature and haven't opened yet.
