growing mulberry trees (I'm clueless) Posted 122 days ago Can anyone give me info and advice on mulberrys growing.
I know nothing about gardening (animal welfare being my forte).
We are moving from a surf beach to acerage inland Vic - near Bendigo. Can someone tell me if Mullberrys will grow there? What sort of mullberrys are there? Is there a type more tolerant to inland Vic conditions? How do I get started? Do they need alot of water - as compared to other fruit trees? Is there a mulberry site?....lol. Perhaps...growing mulberries for dumbies...seriously,coz I know totally nothing about growing things.
I've lived on communes in NSW & QLD over the years where the mullies flourished and have always dreamed of having my own acerage and growing a (smallish) mullberry orchard.
I may be out of luck trying it in Bendigo tho. So..is there a resident Mulberry expert here who could word me up on the reality of my dream.
oh...and in the area that I want to use...there is a small vineyard..i want to get rid of the grapes and have mullies instead.

RE: growing mulberry trees (I'm clueless) Posted 120 days ago Mulberrys are fairly easy trees, but slow. I think at least 7 years before first fruit.
I know of two types, but there are prob more. I cant remember the names, one is normal size and one has long fruit.
Two other things I know about mulberries is that silk worms love the leaves.
If your fingers/clothes are stained by the fruit, just rub the unripe white fruit on it and the stain will come off. _________ :) |
