Using powder coated steel tubs for planting

Posted 547 days ago

Hello! I have just bought two big tubs to plant some container veggies, they look to be powder coated steel - or at least painted. I am going to put some drainage holes in as they have none, but am concerned that once I drill into the metal the holes will be prone to rust.
I am an organic gardener and don't want to use anything that will leach into the potting mix - does anyone know what I can use to treat the holes once drilled to stop rust, and not poison my veggies?
Many Thanks in advance,

Happy little Day
