winter tomato seed colour codes

Posted 702 days ago

My dog tore the packet of winter tomato seeds distributed with January 2010 Burke's Backyard.

All I can read is that the Stupice variety is died yellow.

Help me please. Which are the varieties died red, blue and green?

I have now trained my dog not to eat Burke's Backyard.

Hi there
The information on the back of the packet is:
Green: Siberia - bush variety, doesn't need staking, medium size fruit
Red: Russian Red - tree-type bush to 1.5m, small to medium fruit
Blue: Giant Tree Tomato - tall variety, up to 3m tall, needs staking, huge fruit
Yellow: Stupice - bush variety to 1.2 m, smallish fruit.
Good luck with your plants
Regards

Thanks KiwiNat62. Just what I wanted. I guess you live a bit far north for winter tomatoes.

No worries Jefferies - happy to help.
Yep - winter in sub-tropical QLD is very different to winter in NZ.
Being a novice gardener (with a reputation for killing plants), I planted all my seeds out - you know what they say about ignorance being bliss - I currently have 21 winter tomato plants growing rather nicely - they must be hardy to survive my touch. I'm looking forward to their development.

Pressed the wrong button and got into tomatoes.

I really want to know more about growing figs. My plant looks healthy but is not growing bigger. It is about four foot high.

It is a Black Genoa. I want it to grow and produce more fruit.
