Lettuce Taste Posted 812 days ago i have a bumper crop of lettuces at the moment (various varieties. The seem to have a stronger taste than store bought varities, including the cos. We are cutting leaves as we need them and they have not been sprayed with anything at all. |

RE: Lettuce Taste Posted 811 days ago usually good fertilizing and constant water supply keeps the lettuce thick and strong. also selective growing may also have a great deal to this.. |

RE: Lettuce Taste Posted 810 days ago Last Summer I let a few go to seed, and to my great surprise they came up in plague proportions and we had fresh ( frost-resistant!!) lettuce all Winter. No snails either. Luxury! Important to keep food and water up to lettuce as dragonace says, or they'll become very bitter tasting. |

RE: Lettuce Taste Posted 809 days ago Quite often homegrown lettuce is bitter when not grown fast with plenty of water, but I find little bit of bitter quite acceptable, maybe because I nibble on Dandelion while tending my little garden. |
