It sounds as though the flowers are not being pollinated. Maybe you have lazy bees.

It is a good idea to pollinate them yourself if there aren't any bees doing the job for you.

thanks pomolo. can you please tell me how i do it myself as i don't know the difference between the male and female flowers.

also how can i stop my new zucchini plants from getting powdery mildew?

Do it early in the morning. The female flowers have a swelling (it will become the fruit after pollination) at the base of the flower. The male flowers don't have this. Pick a male flower, pull off the petals and use this protuberance bearing the pollen to brush against the female counterpart. Use one male flower per 5/6 female flowers.

Spray your Zucchini with 1 part ordinary milk to 10 parts water. Strange I know but it works.

do you know if beans get that mosaic virus that tomatoes get because my bean leaves have a yellow dotty sand-blasted appearance.

i think my beans have bean fly - leaves have loads of small yellow dots on them
