Hi Colleen,
I am guessing you will not be growing in the ground so If you keep the pot moist with a light watering every second to third day would be fine but don't over water them as they can rot. If it gets the rain then don't water as this should be sufficient. I don't do anything else to mine apart from water (They are in the ground) they look after themselves if you have a bit of dirt in the yard stick a couple of cloves in just to see how they go as well as the pot. A little bit of manure or slow release when you first plant is all you need for the growing season. They taste great and last months after picking you will be glad you done it. Pull up when they die of but hold of the water for a few days before pulling.

Thanks Shelleymee for the advice on Garlic. I have just planted out 2 large tubs with garlic - and already they are sprouting madly. I am about to put some garlic into my newly established vegie patch as I heard they are good for keeping pests at bay. I managed to get 2 different types of garlic from a roadside stall at a nearby farm yesterday for a pittance compared to what you pay in nurseries/garden centres, so will be using some of that to put in around the perimeter of the patch.

Luckily we adore garlic, so hope to have plenty of produce in about 6 months!

hello, fellow garlic grower. I have just harvested and dried this years garlic. My garlic grows for 6 mths. I grow in large tractor tyres, fertile free draining soil. I use little water only when i can see that the soil is extra dry. I never water 3 weeks before I harvest. I will use one third of the crop and store the rest for next seasons plant.
