Lemon Tree in pain Posted 546 days ago I have a lemon tree. The last 2 years the fruit has been small, dry and wrinkly. Can someone tell what the problem could be and how best to treat it. Fresh lemon juice next year will be great. Thanks |

RE: Lemon Tree in pain Posted 540 days ago Hello Scobby,
Before I (or anyone else) for that matter can help you, we will need to know a few more details:
Where is the tree located full sun/shade etc?
What soil type?
Do you fertilise the tree?
Does it have any major pest infestation that you can see?
Does it have any disease that you can see?
Does it get plenty of summer irrigation, if needed?
The answers to these questions may provide some additional clues.

RE: Lemon Tree in pain Posted 538 days ago Hi Scobby,
I would give it a good dose of citrus fertilizer then look for any obvious signs of pests or diseases when the tree is fruiting thin it out so it is not so crowded. Make sure it gets plenty of water, if you can not see any thing obvious like brown spots or black powdery stuff on the leaves or bugs maybe it just needs some manure and mulch with lots of fluids and a good thinning when the fruit is about 2cm big. Have a good look around the immediate area of the tree and see if any thing may be hindering its growth look at the branches are there lumps or nodules dig around in the dirt see it there are any grubs etc. Lemon trees can bounce back pretty well from a bad season with the right care if a problem is found. Good luck I hope you get your juicy lemons this year. _________ God made rainy days so gardners get the house work done. |
