I grew some great cucumbers in Queensland where obviously we have some really hot humid weather and no pests or diseases really interfered with the fruiting which was abundant! Don't plant too many that's my advice!!

Hi Trigg,
If you try to keep the over head watering down to a minimun and remove any dead leaves regularly powdery mildew should not be a problem. Cucumbers are susceptible to mildew but it is easy to avoid if you keep up the general garden care and watch the over head watering. Good luck I had allot of luck with apple cucumbers last season and they are very tasty but Susan is right dont plant too many or plant one month apart so you dont get a mass at once.

G'day Trigg,
I have found when growing all varieties of cucumbers ( Lebanese, apple and standard),using a vertical framework/trellis helps minimise powdery mildew which can be a problem with overhead watering.
