RE: pests with strawberries Posted 556 days ago Before growing strawberries you need that necessary atmosphere present or not as water sunlight etc. I am also trying to grow it in my garden . |

RE: pests with strawberries Posted 538 days ago The best thing to do is cover them with something like a fine netting if done correctly it will keep out all things likely to eat the fruit in the day or night although earwigs can still get in you have to find out what is eating them first and that means going out there at night with a torch and investigating. There are natural ways to get rid of all pests but you need to know what you are dealing with first. Good luck |

RE: pests with strawberries Posted 532 days ago I also have a problem with pests eating all my strawberries. Biggest strawberry (and tomato) hogs here (south of Perth) are mice (nibble chunks out of all the fruit), bobtail lizards (the fruit just disappears), and the occassional rabbit. Growing strawberries in hanging baskets is one option, but they need more frequent watering/feeding. Building a frame with a lid and totally enclosing it with something like very small mesh birdwire is another solution. |
